Chapter Four -- Ghostly Opportunities

Online Dating

After my California Dreaming reverie with Hal, I was subconsciously on alert for clues and opportunities to aid in the dream becoming true. The needed hint came soon. I began the very next morning counseling a woman who had recently divorced. With a vibrant tone she told me about a man she had met through online dating just this last weekend. Her delight captivated me. As I listened to her uplifting experiences, I could see a path for me.

Later that same day one of my best girlfriends, Janine, called excitedly anxious to tell me about a man she had met through online dating. She gave me the needed dates and asked me to do his astrological chart, which I did. Results were positive; his Aquarius a good match to her Leo. Their geography was, however, a formidable hurdle; him in Winnipeg and her in Nashville. Still, from her somewhat lonely isolation in the Mid-Continent, the prospect of his company appealed to her strongly. The confirmation provided by their astrological signs heartened her; just possibly this might be something special.

Sitting at my computer while Janine and I were talking, I cast her could-be consort’s chart into my interpretive astrological program. Scanning the screen, I told her the results looked good, that the two of them would likely be a mutually fulfilling combine – as long as they just accepted each other as they are. Furthermore, the magnetic pull of their opposite signs pointed to festive sexual episodes, which would act to fade away any fretful differences. Reflecting on the harmony I was foreseeing for the two of them, a melancholy gloom wafted through me, causing me to lament to Janine about the lonely Holidays just ahead.

Compellingly, Janine then said, “You must enlist in this online dating service. You are such a lively personality I know you’ll find someone who shares your zest for life.” Helpfully, based on her experience, she cautioned me that frequently men put up pictures that are years out of date, so I should always insist on seeing a recent picture. She added, “Make sure to specify the maximum distance you’re willing to travel. Otherwise, you might end up like me being infatuated with a man who lives thousands of miles away.”
